Spring into ETA Restaurant + Bar

Spring is finally here, and the hunt for the best seasonal menu is on. It may not always feel like spring when you step outside, but we’ve found a spot to hit right now, that can certainly evoke our excitement for the warm weather that’s just around the corner. Located at the main lobby of the Loews Chicago Hotel in the heart of downtown, ETA Restaurant + Bar  has a few creations that offer a bold start to the season.

Feeling Bookish

The menu features six unique, whimsical drinks, each with a nod to literary classics. From “The Secret Garden” to “Thank You for Smoking,” each offers an unexpected twist that takes a classic cocktail to the next level.

The Secret Garden

This is the definition of spring in a cocktail. This delightful concoction is made with Kappa Pisco, rose liqueur, simple syrup, fresh lemon, and egg white. The stellar bar staff top it all off with an invigorating swirl of Angostura bitters as the perfect finishing touch. You’ll be ordering a second in no time.

Tequila Mockingbird

If there were ever a drink that reminded me of a character from a book, this would be it. This elegant cocktail is a smart and thoughtful blend of El Jimador Blanco Tequila, crème de violette, grapefruit and lime juice. With the citrus undertones, I have a feeling that Scout Finch would approve.

Huckleberry Gin

There’s nothing quite like the start of berry season. What better way to showcase strawberries than making them the star. Made with Tanquery gin, Loveblock Sauvignon Blanc, basil, and strawberries this cocktail is bursting with freshness.

Treasure Island

If you’re looking for a quick, mini, post-work stay-cation — this one’s for you. The Myers’s Original Dark Rum and Giffard’s Banane de Bresil are the perfect start to creating your very own island getaway. The bright flavors will leave you ready to book a one-way flight in no time.

Catcher in the RYE

For all my whiskey drinkers out there – here’s a drink specially crafted for you. The ingenious paring of Rittenhouse Rye and beet syrup is reason enough to give this cocktail a try. Finished with lemon and ginger ale, the peppery kick from the rye and sweetness of the beet create an enticing and unique earthiness you wouldn’t want to miss.

Thank you for Smoking

It’s probably fair to say that most of us would have a hard time imagining Don Draper drinking anything other than the “Catcher in the RYE,” but think again. The smokiness of the VIDA de San Luis Del Rio® mezcal blended with the Carpano Antica Formula, Agave nectar, and bitters give a subtle nod to the classical old-fashioned. Much like Mr. Draper, the peaty and citrus notes put this drink in a category of it’s own.
If you’re looking for a new take on an old classic, look not further than ETA Restaurant + Bar. Their amusing menu progresses from subtle floral notes to smoky and warm to prove there really is something for every palate.
